3. Disconnect the drain: Under the tub, locate the drain shoe, which connects the tub drain to the plumbing. By unscrewing or cutting this connection, you can disconnect the drain.

4. Remove the tub: Finally, with assistance, lift the tub out of its place. Be cautious of any remaining nails or screws that may cause harm.

Installing the New Bathtub

With the old tub out of the way, you're now ready to install your new bathtub. 

1. Check the floor and walls: The area where the tub will go should be clean and in good condition. If the floor has suffered water damage, it may need to be repaired before you can continue.

5. Seal the tub: Apply caulk around the edges of the tub where it meets the floor and walls. This will help prevent water from seeping behind the tub.

6. Install the surround or tiles: Finally, reinstall the tub surround or tiles, then seal them with caulk.
